Commonly known as Sue's Death March!!!

Today was supposed to be a nice easy ride at Hodges. Well, if you've ever let Sue lead a ride, you'll know that Sue doesn't understand "easy ride".

This ride turned into a 25+ mile trip from the storage units parking lot all the way out past Hernandez Hideaway, past the damn, and all the way to the top of the switchbacks.

On the ride out we were 5, until about 10 miles where Dave "conveniently" got a phone call and had to turn back, so the full way out and all the way back was 4. Well quite a bit of it was really two groups of two. 29ers and 26ers. The 29ers got to rest quite a bit while waiting for the poor climbing 26ers. About mid way up the big climb one of the poor 26ers hit the way and was hurting pretty bad, which led us to a discovery. 26ers can be faster than 29ers, but only when a 29er is pushing the 26er!!!!!!!!!

At the end of the journey we all made it thanks to a stop at the store in the park to get the poor 26er a much needed rest so he could finish the journey.

Now for some stats!

Bike computer and phone were off a little due to starting the phone app about .25-.5 mile in.

But here goes.

Phone said 25.11 miles done in a total of 4:53 (this is total time, including rests, etc), with 1357 feet of elevation gain. Now what's odd is that the program analyzes climbs and only lists 1 actual "Climb" that was 3.43 miles long at 1.3 deg for a gain of 237 feet, but that included a decent of at least 100-150 feet in the middle, so it would be more like 400ish feet in that one section.

The bike is slightly different because it only track the actual time the wheels are moving so it says 25.72 miles covered in 3:01, with a top speed of 26.61mph.

So that's about it......

So you should have been on the recover ride the next day. I didn't see any other 29er? Death March Part II. I had to hold the pink spoon in my mouth. hahahaha
