Lighter, lots of fun to ride and, after having a full suspension rig where the rear shock blew out mid-ride on multiple occasions, there's one less thing to go wrong. But yeah, you do need to pick your lines a little more carefully. |

I like the efficiency on long rides, especially if there is a lot of climbing or fire roads involved. They are great for bikepacking as you can fit a frame bag in the front triangle and a larger seat bag without having to worry about the tire contacting the bag. And its a great way to switch things up and make your regular trails more interesting. |

Only when I'm mad at myself. And I get mad at myself when I ride a hardtail. CrAzY! |

Pros: more versatile overall, more speed, less weight, better skills, less maintenance and cost. Cons: much, much less fun descending. Major con: may lead to occasionally riding a road or gravel bike. |

...because my singlespeed is a hardtail but that's a whole 'nother topic, isn't it? |

Not sure why, but I've been digging the new "Enduro" hard tails. Nordest Bardino 2 looks pretty good, but would be $3k+ to build out. https://bikerumor.com/2019/12/18/nordes ... eaks-more/ Cheaper options are Commencal Meta HT https://www.commencalusa.com/meta-ht-am-c102x3872637 Or Ribble HT which can get custom paint scheme. https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-ht-725/ |

Not so new. The Brits have been riding slack big-forked hardtails for a decade or so. |
