I had the black Pivot 5.5 the first year it came out and was "bike of the year". It replaced a Pivot Mach 6 that I really enjoyed but I never gelled with the 5.5 as it was slug going up. Those 2.6 tires were awesome coming down, I don't think I ever lost traction no matter how hard I pushed. I sold it off faster that any bike I ever owned. Fast forward a couple years and I bought the HD5 in June 2019 to replace the Ripmo I sold. I never rode the HD4 in your 1st picture but I'm amazed at how well the HD5 climbs. It blows the Pivot out of the water. They aren't even in the same league. That being said, I wouldn't want it as my "only" bike. I ride it on rides with bigger obstacles like Greer, Mt Wilson, bike parks, etc...

I like the look of the new Giant Trance X 29er. At least you wouldn't have to remember the name of a new bike.

^^^ I haven’t demo’ed a 36er yet, but I’m open to it as long as it’s full suspension.

Well...a few years ago I was in the chorus decrying e-bike riders as the devil’s spawn, but I also quoted Mel Brooks: “We mock the thing we are to be”. My current decrepitude and the encouragement of others has me looking at an e-MTB. We just wanna have fun, so I’m casting aside my pedal-power purism. Hopefully less gasping for breath for me, less waiting for them.

If I was ready to chuck a wad at an eBike, I'd take a close look at Commencal. In fact, I have been. But not quite ready to go dark side. Not to mention, if looking at new, the cost is not insignificant.

Haters gonna hate... Buy what makes you happy!

Also, you can get a tow rope and pull your grand grommets to the top.

It’s a 2020 Kona Remote 160 with a Shimano E8000 motor. It’s gonna be fun.

I could have used a motor today. Enjoy - it looks like a nice ride.
