It was also reported that a warden was seen today / this evening parked by the water tower again.

Any story behind this numb nut and his motivation?

We saw five vehicles today parked on the fire road corner closest to the top of Serpentine. I was quite a ways away, but it looked like two white, silver, maybe tan, and a darker one. But not warden-dark. At that location it was probably CNLM & City, not DFW. No idea what was going on, and I passed on the opportunity to ride down the hill and ask.

Just saw this one hour ago on FB:

“Heads up, 3 CDFW rangers at the pad area right now. Parked at church entrance.”

Looking north towards the church right now and not seeing any trucks. They probably got a nice hike in and headed off to lunch.

Report from my Calavera Trails Coalition team at 9:40, there were no trucks or sign of tire tracks near the pad. We hit the pad a little before 11am. No sign of anyone there.

If you do run across Wardens, just be nice and play dumb, they DON'T want to give out tickets unless you try to run and piss them off.

Wardens will most likely be in full gear, drive Dark Blue/Green SUV's with Large Badge on the door, they are often used to dealing with poachers, drug smugglers/growers, etc. The Carlsbad Rangers, (haven't seen 1 in a few years) drive the small white truck with CBad PD/Ranger on the door. When I last spoke with them, they could really care less about Mtn Bikers and said, they would only ticket if someone pissed them off or was a known repeat offender.

Land Manager, Gabriel, drives large white pickup, he can't ticket or do anything aside from report land usage and call Wardens. CNLM, drive small white Tacoma, with CNLM on the door, he usually only drives around city land, empties trash and picks up dog shit bags.

No tracks because they were on foot. FB post by SK said:

“Didn't see the truck(s), just three guys with matching tan and green and shiny gold badges on their chests walking east of the pad away from the church area.”

Description matches these guys to a T-oyota.

Just out for a nice walk, or report of homeless activity most likely.

Tickets are currently REAL someone got one yesterday. I'm not a lawyer, but I understand it would be code 4360, which would be $270 fine if upheld in court.

We all know it is Illegal to ride on CHER, however, the boundaries are not entirely marked well.

The only formal map I've seen is the one on page 101 of this document, which shows ALL Trails as Unauthorized. The question has be asked if they are enforcing this against all users or if there is a different map that is legal for Hikers. cough Discriminatory enforcement cough.....

I would ASSume that if all trails are not cleared marked as open or closed, no real clear maps provided, and only ticketing a single user group, someone would stand a good chance of getting out of the ticket with a warning. Personally, I would take the time to see them in court and have them provide proper maps and laws to da judge. In this metoo, social justice world we are forced to live in, this is pure discrimination because you choose to ride a bike instead of walking you dog and letting it crap all over without picking up after it

Fuck Fish and Game.

I’ve been riding Calavera since
1974 and got a ticket in the early
80’s for riding my motorcycle.

$125 for almost 50 years is worth it.

It’s not illegal till you get caught
