Like the swallows return to San Juan Capistrano, I think I am going to go do San Juan again this weekend. Saturday or Sunday tbd. Same ride: Bottom to Top (Blue Jay, not just Coctail Rock) and then Top to Bottom (skipping that extra hell loop this time though). Anyone down?

Too slow to go, but I would like to make this time. If you leave early it is not hot. The up hill from the junction might not be far, but it is a climb.

Singleminded, i'm calling you out. Bring your camera. I have a new back tire and I need some shots of it.

Don't quote me but I think the Cliff Swallow (Petrochelidon pyrrhonota) is a migratory bird that spends its winters in Goya, Argentina but makes the 6,000-mile (10,000 km) trek north to the warmer climes of the American Southwest in springtime. According to legend the birds, who have visited the San Juan Capistrano area every Summer for centuries, first took refuge at the Mission when an irate innkeeper began destroying their mud nests (the birds also frequent the Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo).[123] The Mission's location near two rivers made it an ideal location for the swallows to nest, as there was a constant supply of the insects on which they feed, and the young birds are well-protected inside the ruins of the old stone church...or something like that.

Did this ride ever happen? I was wondering how the conditions were up there, not to mention the outcome of the "call out". :bang:

Nah, no replies. Singleminded either is a chicken or didnt see the post. Its all in good fun he knows (I hope cuz I heard he kicks ass). I just like riding with people that shred so I can get embarassed into becoming even more better. But anytime you want to go to San Juan, pm me. It's actually a flat easy 45 min from my house so its easier (and a lot less gas) than Nobel Canyon for me. This Sunday however, I am racing Storm the Beach. Other than that San Juan is always on. :domo: :domo: :domo:

I'll take you up on that sometime (once it cools off a bit). I live in Carlsbad as well, maybe we can carpool?
