So I took that Karate Monkey on the Celo-Pacific cyclocross club ride yesterday. Its not the usual guys I ride with so its hard to tell if I am faster or not on it. I like showing up to these rides. These guys are the real deal and some have been racing for many years and they totally kicked my butt. I did notice that taking sand seemed much easier on the 29er than my 26. But now, I am in love with the new carbon fiber Mongoose hardtail.

I know, I know. You think Mongoose has no credibilty since they sell them at department stores. Well let the danimal tell you that thier high end ones are the shizznich. I don't know about Mongooses corporate policies but if you appreciate light hardtails and you saw this thing...youd be like whoop whoop

Mongoose will take care of you. They don't sell their high end bikes at walmart. I think they have two product lines...a recreation line and a competitive line.

that's the thing about the big wheels. 29ers hold themselves up. they are self balancing. even without a rider. like a segway except even the president couldn't crash a 29er.

Yo davidb- Sweet ride buddy. What size chainring are you running there? I'm thinking of going 1x9, trying to work out that issue. "Tanx"

PS And, is that a stock XTR crank, or one of those converted Jones jobs?
