Oh I was thinking about that because you stated as one of the reasons you wanted to go back to a long travel 26er. Maybe its your stem...too long? or are the switch backs over there just nutty? could just move back to SD !!!!

Having said all this Im still gonna keep a 26er around. regardless, since Im not nutty hucker guy, I wont need a Reign...

Not just swtichbacks... think "perpetual rock garden...with big rocks".

I thought 29ers are rock garden masters?...maybe you are riding it like a 26er and picking lines that are a bit tight? Not trying to stop you from getting a Reign, cuz I want one, but Im just trying to figure out what's not working...

I think has to do with momentum, if your comparing a 29er in Cali to a 29er in New England, but then again, I'm not really "technically minded" when it comes to bikes.

I took a quick spin on Phonger's Redline the other day. Granted, I didn't go on the trail with it, but just the spin around the parking area, I noticed a little more momentum, but it didn't feel that different.

So, I've decided I'm not going to blow a whole bunch of money on a whole new bike just to give the big wheels a shot. I'm going to try to put some $$$ into my two bikes that I have (with the wife's nod of course  ) and make them better.

Buy nice wheels, best upgrade ever.

i'm planning to build new wheels for the ss.
next, get a decent fork on the fsrxc (or get one for the ss and put its fork on the fsr).
a better shock for the fsr.
fu bars for the ss.

Dude, I was surprised, Portland turned out to be really f'ing cool.

However, we got two strippers in the hotel, and they were NASTY! Which made for really great entertainment, since lap dances were more like an episode of Fear Factor than anything else.
