There's a plant in MTRP and on my neighborhood trails that has fern-like pale green leaves, pale yellow flowers, and seed pods that sound exactly like a rattlesnake when you brush up against them. Are there any professional, semi-professional, or rank amateur botanists on DT who can identify that plant? I looked online for a bit but my Google-fu is admittedly weak. Don't ask for a picture - I've been on this site for only eleven years so I haven't yet figured out how to post anything but stock photos and YouTube music videos.

^^^ Sounds like mesquite if you’re talking about tree size, or maybe bladder pod if bush size, but it doesn’t have fern-like leaves. It has that sound though.

^^^ Wow, is that what they really look like, or how they look on ‘shrooms?!

That's it - I'm not even a rank amateur botanist so to me those leaves looked kinda sorta fern-like.

Well, I am a rank amateur, which is why I got it wrong. The iNaturalist app says those are milkvetch plants.

Seems to be a good spring for Mariposa Lilies.
