After driving all morning in the mountains in the rain, I stopped for lunch in Del Norte*, Colorado and chose the appropriately named Rained Out IPA.

*Those of you who remember the opening scene of the 2012 bikepacking film, Reveal the Path, where the guys make a “Colorado snowcone” by pouring bourbon into a tin cup of snow, will already know that the locals pronounce it “Del Nort”.

^^^ Exactly!! I couldn’t believe it when a friend moved to Buena Vista and told me that’s how it was pronounced.

I’m in Cañon City today. After almost a hundred and fifty years they added the tilde to the name, so at least this one gets pronounced more or less correctly.

Also, at this place I wasn’t expecting a lot from a band where the lead guitarist wears a leather cowboy hat, and the bass player has a backwards ball cap. They were actually pretty darn good.

I’m trying not to post TOO many drink photos, but I did really enjoy this Dale’s Pale Ale at Cap City Tavern, across the street from the Denver Art Museum today. It used to be one of my favorite beers, and now I remember why.

A couple of Colorado classics on the patio with an old high school and later backpacking friend who happened to be back in Denver for a visit from his current home in Kazakhstan (really). He does not approve of e-bikes (Haha! f*ck you old buddy! Just kidding — sorta. My wife set him straight on that with a favorite Mel Brooks quote — “we mock what we are to be” ).

Reviewing the posts on this thread, I became concerned for Dan’s liver!

Cool camp light by the way.

Yeah, I’m getting concerned too…good thing I only post about half the time. That little lamp is made by Fire Maple — I like it.
