After a day at Little Creek we were looking to get our flow on - JEM-Hurricane Rim-Goulds is the perfect place for that. On the last trip here in April we skipped the Goulds Rim part of this loop as we were trying to get in another ride that day. This time, we would ride the whole thing. Winds had calmed down and the weather was a pleasant 60 or so...perfect riding weather. Goulds turned out to be one of the flowier sections. We also started at a trail head off Hwy 9 at Sheepsbridge road. I'd highly recommend starting here and riding Hurricane Rim first, to Goulds, to JEM. That way you get the ultra fun JEM descent at the end of the ride.

We start off above the Virgin river

Very scenic, and the fall colors add a nice touch to the landscape

We had to ride a short connector from the trailhead over to the bottom of JEM
Image

And then we were off! Offroadie on a short chunky descent
Image

The trail follows the rim for some time
Image

Hurricane rim has a fair bit of climbing on it, over a couple of ridgelines
Image

Fortunately the climbs lead to some fun, switchbacked descents

Maybe his seat is too high?

Excellent views and good flow on Goulds, after a fire road climb up to the mesa top

This trail takes you over to the rim above another canyon and then around to the top of JEM

Off we go!

JEM was a great way to end the ride, and we finished with close to 25mi this day. We had been thinking of doing another short ride after this somewhere else, but the case of beer in the truck said otherwise.

Those pics bring back some good memories. A really fun ride. JEM descent is one of the only reasons to have a triple front chainring.

Just wondering, did you see anything or here anything regarding a singletrack go around of the fire road out of Hurricane on Gould's? I have heard rumors, but haven't been out there in 3 years or so.

looked alive at first, but it was dead, judging by the smell when we got close

Didn't see anything but it could be there, and I didn't think to ask at the shop. They would definitely know and I'm sure they would hook you up. We were definitely thinking it would be nice to have some singletrack instead of the several fire road sections.
