Great pics. We were there the same day, sorry we missed you.

I have to ask, though--how does Thunder Mountain become an epic????

"Thounder Mountain climb is hard, we are all the way up to the antennas" that's what Barcy said when he called me for directions after riding for six hours!
He sounded so exhausted

Nice TR Barcy.

Often photos don't capture how majestic a place like that can be.......yours come damn close!! Nice distance shots.

Kreechan would be impressed that you and AliB pushed this one out to six hours + riding time

Dang--now I am even more annoyed that I was stuck in town with my mother in law over labor day weekend rather than going on this trip with you.

Looks like a must-see destination. Fantastic pics.

Hey,
Were you guys also riding in Brian Head on Thurs and Friday last week?? I spotted a car with CA plates up at the top of Bunker Creek but never saw anyone else....
the guy at the bike shop said a couple were in the area from SD. Hope you enjoyed your trip as much as I did (but I forgot to charge my camera so no proof to show what I did in Utah...)

Cheers,
Liz

That explains it!

Wish we had met up, I could have saved you some aggravation/bonus miles. We took the easy route and had my wife drop us at the Coyote Hollow trailhead and pick us up at the Red Canyon Visitor Center a couple hours later. [This was the method Sean used back during the Moab 2009 trip, and it worked well, so we did it again.]

And I never got your call, though I have no doubt you made it. Cell service was spotty through there for us all weekend.

My riding buddy took a nasty fall on Thunder Mountain about two-thirds in where the trail crosses a dry streambed. He carried far too much speed down that short downhill and supermaned across almost the entire wash. It was ugly, but could have been worse. As a result, we missed out on Cassidy/Losee, which was a disappointment, but I'm just glad my friend wasn't hurt worse...

What, he wasn't calling for you to come pick him up because he had a flat tire?
