It was a great turnout last Thursday with Chuckanado, Canaan, Evdog, Kreechan, AJ, and Grizzly-Gear. The goal was Cowles Mountain and the goal was achieved.

It was a ride of firsts. First DT group ride for AJ, Grizzly-Gear, and myself. First time up Cowles (on a bike) for AJ and Canaan (I think). First introduction to Dirt Treaders for Grizzly-Gear. And apparently, the first time a woman from Kansas City has ever walked a dog in San Diego before (please pick up your dogs Sh*t).

Next Week Thursday the 20th, we will have wheels rolling at 5:45pm. Same route up to Cowles but we will be heading over to Pyles Peak. I really want to finish the ride in the light of day (I don't have lights). Everyone is welcome but must be responsible for their own turn around time to finish the ride by 7:45ish or have lights. Its an out and back to Pyles so that really shouldn't be a problem.

If you want to challenge yourself on a short steep ride come on out. Total ride is about 7 - 8 miles with Approx 1500' of elevation gain with grades of 22%.

Hope to see you Thursday.

Cheers John

Any interest this week?

I am leaning toward making this a bi-weekly ride unless someone wants to step in and co-lead a Thursday ride within MTRP.

John

I can't make it this week, but I'll try for next. Now that I have the first trip under my belt, the ride seems only daunting, not impossible.

I can't speak for anyone else, but every other week is about as often as I could handle that ride. I had a lot of fun last week, but man some of those pitches just kicked my ass.

My schedule is hectic now, but in mid-to-late June I'll probably be able to lead MTRP'ish rides on the Thursdays you're not doing Cowles.

Canaan you hit the nail on the head. I think the Thursday ride should include all of MTRP trails. Tomorrow is Cowles to Pyles Peak but next week we will mix it up and check out some of the other MTRP offerings. The Thursday ride will evolve so if anyone has any other suggestions or wants to lead a ride just post up.

I just picked up a special frosty refreshing 12oz suprise for everyone who shows up tomorrow. I will be staying with the Oregon theme......

Sorry Boys and Ladies but I can't do the Cowles Thurday ride this week. Please if someone wants to lead a Thurday ride in it place post up. We will be back on next week and I will try to come up with something entertaining for the ride. Evdog has some great ideas for next weeks ride. Maybe Iron or a variation of the Cowles Pyle loop. Have a great week Dirt Treaders!

Well folks Thursday is upon us once again and you know what that means. Time for a little pain and sufffering on the Thursday evening ride. Depending on response we can mix it up this week or I am happy to lead the same Mesa to Cowles to Pyles out and back route.

Check previous posts for parking/meet up instructions. Wheels rolling at 5:45pm. Come check out this ride its a great afterwork ride and I always have post ride brews for the peeps.

John

PM me if you have any questions.

This trail already inspires fear and loathing on a gearie!

As it does on a SS. I had never tried it before and most likely won't do it again. The HAB up the fireroad wasn't as bad as I imagined, but I didn't really start feeling good until on the way out to Pyles. Definitely got my cardio training in though.

Now Cisco, on the other hand... was killin' it :bang: Good meeting you John and thanks again for the ride.

Nice to ride with you Brian. I have to say after seeing Kreechan and Brian work the Single speeds I have a new respect for that style of riding. You guys both have some great skills.

Brian sorry about the Bud light Limes, my wife thinks that was real funny. I'll make it up to ya' the next time we ride. Cheers.........

Bud Light Lime is about 14 steps down from the Mirror Pond Pale Ale on our ride -- man, that was tasty.

See Canaans post about this weeks ride in Spring Canyon. I wish I knew how to link posts. Have a fun ride this week.
