Well, since they are not legal trails, they were never “open”, so I guess the answer is “yes”.

Perfect time of year for trail users to be pushed to using the alternate trails.

Yep....been 3 times in the past 2 weeks. It sounds like you obviously haven't been in a while so for you, there's at least (2) new trails out there, maybe even (3).

I can't speak for this past weekend but the weekend of the 21-22 was the busiest I've ever seen it due to HIKERS who were absolutely not practicing "safe distancing". There were plenty of riders as well but as usual at Greer, you only saw them at the top of climbs waiting to drop in. We were there yesterday morning at 9:30 and saw maybe 8-10 other riders. Weekdays are obviously the best time to go.

Yup, pretty much any unsanctioned trails anywhere are expected to be open.
As K2 stated above, hikers are a plenty especially between the hours of 9am through 11:30AM.
Some hikers are quickly realizing that hiking on Insidious, TMB/TMBDH and (and most especially) Distortion is not a great and safe idea for them.
I know it sounds like a dick move but for a change, we could actually impose our will on hikers on our own terms. "We" built and maintained these trails and as a courtesy posted signs at the bottom of these trails for their safety.

We locals either ride buck early at 6:30-700am and be done before 9AM or start at 10:30-11AM (less riders but more hikers). So, Mike, when are we riding?? :)

2-3 new trails and weekdays are sounding good. Ozzer I'll pm you when I go but I'm gonna keep the throttle WAY down because I definitely don't want to go the ER again now.

Google. The cat’s been out of the bag a long time.
