I stole a couple of DT dog photos from IG to illustrate a theme of somber chocolate dogs (Nala, Ruby, and Aldo) on vanilla backgrounds.

I finally got to meet Enzo, my daughter’s other dog. Denver has a 107-acre completely fenced off-leash dog area with a shaded sandy creek running through it, part of Cherry Creek State Park. It’s dog heaven.

Rigby and I have had better weekends and hopefully will get a lot more. He hadn't been eating was losing weight so I took him to the vet on Sat. They did an abdominal x-ray and found a giant mass around his left kidney.

Image

An hour later we were at a specialist getting ultrasounds and more x-rays. Sunday he wouldn't get out of bed and was in clear discomfort, so back to the specialist to get some pain medication. Monday he had surgery to remove the mass, a kidney and an adrenal gland. He is recovering well. I went to visit him today and he gets to come home tomorrow.

Image

Should have results of the analysis of the mass to get an idea of what sort of prognosis to expect near/hopefully long term in about a week. Have my fingers crossed.

I thought I got a great deal on a german shorthaired pointer 4 years ago. $300 off craigslist from a young family, up in Camarillo, that didn't have the 'bandwidth to deal' with a 10 month old GSP (i.e bat shit crazy puppy). He is my first dog and had not been properly socialized/trained; had no idea what I was getting into. Actually put him up on CL myself when he was about 14 months old. Couldn't let him go.

After destroying several pairs of sunglasses, a couch arm, a drip sprinkler system, two of my ex's fancy purses and the arm and entire cushion of her chaise lounge, exasperating myself and a couple of 'trainers' before finding a local Cesar Millan, and needing to delay some home renovations after this weekend I'd gladly endure it all again for a little more time with the fucker.

Little tweak to dirtrider's sig, "You never know what tomorrow will bring so go riding today AND HUG your pooch."

Rigby is home. Trying out the T-shirt instead of the cone.

Had to let Riggs go this morning. Cancer had spread to his spine... Feeling sad but buoyed by many great memories.

I've got a couple of those collars myself and it's not easy brother. You'll never forget Rigby and he won't been gone in your memory. R.I.P. Rigby
