Heat has always been my kryptonite as I've aged and this added humidity is like a one-two punch. It doesn't help that I just returned from Whistler. It's hard to get motivated to ride local in the heat after riding on that trip. I joined @pperrelle up at San Clemente Singletracks this morning but we left at 5 am. The weather was great until 6:30 and then you could feel the humidity....and then the heat kicked in....and that was getting home by 9 am. Now I can't even leave my couch.

There doesn't seem to be any break as far as I can see. As a matter of fact, it looks to get a little hotter next week.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about SCST lately, but whether you start at the top or bottom, there’s no way around climbing that damn hill. How were the trails? By August they’re either cement-hard and bumpy, or cement-hard and groovy.

They were hard but plenty of grip still.

Getting out early is a good idea. I try to get in the ocean by 10 every day but the the water is already warm.

I really hate the heat too but I like riding more. Rode in Palm Springs yesterday but I waited until it cooled down to 110

This afternoon I waited until the monsoon cleared before riding in the mist on TR 305 but it was only about 82 at that time.

One thing is true. No matter how hot or cold it is when riding, the beer still tastes great

GTFOH with that nonsense. At 110, I wouldn't leave my couch, much less my house.

When it gets this hot, you can take the road bike on the coast with a credit card in the pocket for cool drinks and ice when needed.

It's 80, and I'm dying right now... in my house.

We're going to take an early shot at BLT tomorrow. Supposed to hit 81 at around Noon and by then, we should be in Alpine enjoying our Mexican food. :)

Where was it 111? PHX? We rode BLT starting at 0730 and it was quite pleasant, even had a breeze keeping temps to what we thought were in the high 70's, low 80's max but in the car at the TH, it was 91 at 1030.
