Leucadian Girl couldn't stick around for post-ride frosty pops yesterday because she had to get to the annual Neptune Avenue 4th of July Parade. I see why now. Looks like fun (photo by her friend Naomi)!

Lil guy did two laps at Miramar lake today, 10 miles, and still was down for more.

Pretty darn hot today. The two of us rested in the shade at Lake Hodges, while five herons rested in the tree above.

He's giving thanks that he grew enough to fit in the helmet I bought him almost a year ago. I'm just giving thanks for him.

Had a good ride this morning, but late this afternoon the grom wanted to go for a ride. So we did, and he surprised me. He rode...and rode...and rode..until well after dark.

First book club ride of the day was good, second grom ride too. You can tell by his eyes he's smiling inside there. The smile disappeared for a while when he bit it descending The Spine. Good thing I carry some jumbo band-aids -- he got a raspberry on his hip the size of the palm of my hand. Took a while to get smiling again, but he did!

^^^ Nice! Is that bike park in VC now open, or is this elsewhere?

This was up in Elk Grove over the long weekend. Hope the VC park opens soon, the kid keeps asking to go back to the "Desert" to ride the jumps.
