So the Ole Homebrew is working good, I got a slow leak at Big Bear on the last run before we left for home & didn't pump it up. When I got home I pumped it up & sealed, went for a quick spin the next & held up great.

Here is the mix I'm using still.

Next month I'll open the tire to see how much sealant is left, as I can still hear the sealant when i shake the tire.

Homebrew is working great for me too. Running Ignitor's on Stan's Flow rims with just Stan's Yellow Tape...NO RIM STRIPS and haven't had an issue yet. I am really stoked about too. Lightened up the bike quite a bit and have noticed improvements in traction and rolling resistance. Will update again in a month or so. Forgot to mention that I am running 28psi front, 30psi rear normally, but have dropped as low as 25fr, 27rr with no issues.

I use Bontrager RaceLite rims, without strips, and plain old Stan's sauce. I have had tires dry out and then lose air, but I just added goo and all was good. Last night, I pulled off the tires for some other maintenance and found only a few goo balls on the casings. I pulled them off before realizing those may have been sealed leaks... we'll see.

I love the ability to roll lower pressures, the traction and the absence of flats.

Just an update to the Homebrew, it is working AWESOME. Has not dried up either from summer riding. Will give another report back.

OK, I posted a while back how happy I was with tubeless - but I had only converted the front when I was swapping to a larger tire. It was a 2.3 Neve on Crossmax. Conversion was easy.

I spoke too soon...I haven't had a flat in 8 months (a record for me, and I do ride at least once a week), so I knew the sealant would be dried in the front, still holding air fine, but wouldn't have flat protection. So I broke the bead and added fresh sealant, no problem. Seated fine with a hand pump, just like when I first converted it.

Then I thought I'd convert the rear while I was at it. After a couple of hours of struggling, including using a compressor and various bead-seating tricks, I gave up and put the tube back in. It was a folding bead tire, and the motorcycle trick of compressing the circumference w/ a tie-down to force the beads in just flexed the sidewalls.
I guess the difference must be the front was a 2.3 (beads farther apart) and the rear a 2.1.

(if it ain't broke, don't fix it..!?).

Ok tried ghetto tubeless, & has worked great. Home brew still the bomb. I need to make some more as I ran out of brew.

I'm using
Gorilla Tape, found his to be best so far compared to duct,packing tape.
No Tunes/Stan's Vavle stem

olddogdan,
i to struggled when converting to stans.
this is my setup:
wtb speed disc wheels
front: maxxis minion dhf 26x 2.35 folding bead
rear: maxxis highroller 26x 2.35 folding bead
air compressor

i used the stans rim tape in the front, installed the rim strip, followed directions about applying the sauce, tapping the wheels, applying soapy foam, etc...
the front was quick. hey this is simple... spoke too soon.

the rear was a bitch...
couldn't get the highroller to inflate. after multiple attempts.
i realized that the rim strip was falling into the dwell in the wheel. i guess i got lucky in the front. what i had to do is prevent the rim strip from falling in there. what i did was applied foam weatherstripping into the dwell (channel). i just happened to have 3/8w x 3/16t in the garage. after applying on top of the rim tape, i sealed it with plain old electrical tape. that's all i had. i guess you can use others. anyways. the rim strip was now out of the dwell and i actually had to work it down just below the bead lock. i reinstalled the tire, added the sauce, put soap on the sidewalls, tapped the tire all the way around. this actually allows the sauce to soak the tire bead and rim strip. applied air, had a little leak around the stem, i compressed the tire a bit. and voila. the thing pumped up nicely. i had no leaks whatsoever.
i continued flipping and shaking the tire per instructions. no issues just yet.
knock on wood...

Update on my non-UST Nevegals with Stans: since my post just above, now 1 year no flats on the 2.3 tubeless front. The tubed 2.1 on the rear was nearly worn out, so I swapped it with the nearly new tubed 2.1 on my other bike, and tried tubelss again. This 2.1 seated and aired up first try! The difference? I could see just holding it that it was more flexible and the beads naturally were farther apart than the other. The 2.3 and 2.1 that seated and aired up no problem were both Stick-E versions. The 2.1 that I never could seat was a DTC version. All were folding bead, the DTC was marked 120 TPI, but from the website the Stick-E is also 120 TPI, not 60. So if my experience holds true, you'll have a much easier time with Stick-E Nevegals.

Do they sell the stem by itself? I wanna try this setup. Getting tape is no problem, but I haven't asked any shops if they sell the stems by themselves.

i inflated with 2.5 - 3oz of juice...

on my front, no punctures that i knew of, and no visible snot build up when i removed the tire. i still had juice after 3 months. not a lot, about 1.5oz.

on the rear. 2 punctures. had a little less than 1oz.

i removed the wheels when i sold my Trance.

you can try to do a shake test. shake the tire and listen for the fluid. good luck.

You really dont 'need' to refill. If you really want the puncture protection Stan's offers then you will but once you get the tires seated and sealed, you dont need to refill to keep 'em sealed. If you do want the puncture protection, you should add sealant every 6 months or so.
