Post subject:  Replacement pump head

I’ve got a couple of old floor pumps, that need to do both Presta & Schrader valves (for kids bikes). I keep one in the garage and one in the SUV. They last a long time except for the pump heads. Some have two ports on the head, or a cap you unscrew and flip the seal grommet around (a PITA, especially if you drop it). I’ve concluded the one-head-fits-both is the best design, as the one on my Blackburn pump has worked great. The cheap Chinese dual heads suck. So I bought this Topeak SmartHead (yellow lever) which was pricey at $30 w/tax, delivered. But it comes with a new hose and multiple adapters to fit just about any pump. It works great. I recommend it. I also recommend that brass low pressure Presta gauge in the photo, for nice fat low psi tubeless setups (but don’t drop it. Rubber armor would be nice). Anyhow the gauge you use is probably less important than using the same one consistently. And yes, I have a compressor with Presta adapter just in case. Rarely use it.
