In one of my previouse posts I made mention of making a DIY headset installation tool. I thought it appropriate to share the links in this sectoin of the forum as well for anyone that would be looking for such a thing.
Here's the links

Homemade Home Depot threaded rod is way cheaper then the Park Tool equivalent!

And a rubber mallet and block of wood is even cheaper and works just as good. I've seated many headsets that way with no problems.

I used wood/mallet for so long and so many bikes, but have to admit I much prefer the Park Tool from the shop. Nashbar has a knock-off version they'll list and then go back-stock on periodically and I finally got one after about three years of passively trying.

Let me just say that wood and a mallet is fine, but the threaded tool is just plain finer. Ahhhh so easy and so elegant. :D

I've made an installer with washers, etc. too, but my hardware isn't quite as beefy.

I also have the copper tubing for removal.

Also, I cut a piece of the copper and made a decent star nut installer

I agree, for years I was the homemade headset installation tool guy, but last year I picked up a headset and starnut installation tool....oh man, it was actually one of my happiest purchases. I bought one of the park tool knock-offs made by spin dr at performance, it might even just be the same one by nashbar rebadged considering nashbar and performance are the same company, but it works flawlessy, I spent half as much and it is a quality tool.

I like to buy a new tool when I need one, then I'll have it next time. But I haven't needed headset tools yet. Mallet & brass drift to remove. Mallet & block of wood to get new set started, then I crank down a big clamp with two blocks of wood. Nice & straight, and faster than assembling a threaded rod. I almost bought a cable cutter the other day, but that was more tool lust than real need. Dikes in good shape work fine.

Wonder if they have an MTB club, and if they like trail work? Cuz they work fine.
