After ruling out other items, I think my cable housing is causing my sluggish shifting. Is there a trick to cleaning these, or just dunk them and let them dry? They don't appear damaged in any way.

Housing is cheap. Just replace it.

Will make a huge difference in performance, change cable and housing.

Yep, swap it out and it will feel like new. Try going full housing end to end if you can too eliminating
places for dirt/water to enter

Yeah, drivetrain is cleaned, cable replaced, lubed, tweaked, etc. Housing is only remaining factor. I'll just bite the dust I guess.

make sure you get the teflon coated cables...they are much better than the steel ones.
also, try to get complete runs of housing...instead of running the housing to a certain point and having exposed cable that then goes back into housing....thats were they get dirty.
