Has anyone had issues using the original changer on this new style updated Magic Shine battery?
I can't seem to get it charged (i.e. the charger stays green all the time). The battery LED screen comes on and then goes away. Is there supposed to be a different and specific charger for this type of updated Magic Shine battery?

I have a newer style battery (I think) with the newer style charger- you are welcome to give it a try to see if it works for your battery it might help to narrow down the problem between it being either the battery or the charger.

I have a friend that had the same problem with a different brand of light. He'd charge it, the charger would appear to be working, the charging light moving from red to green, however when we rode the battery would die almost instantly. Ended up being a problem with the charger, which I suspect is the same problem your having.

(I bought my set up new last season, it has the battery incased in plastic with a button to push that shows the remaining volts/charge left.)

I have a battery that won't hold a charge, dies after 15 minutes of use; I retired the piece of shit, 10 rides on the system.

Fred, I've had my lights for almost 3 yrs now and have had zero issues. The new style battery came with no charger so I assume the existing charger is good. But I recall being able to use the charger with the connection barely engaged to charge. But lately, no matter what variation, shit won't seem to charge (or the charger light won't turn green eventhough the LED display on the charger turns on when I plug it in). I might just buy a Niterider. The Magic Shine has been a great $70 investment I've made as far as lights. I might find a different battery and charger combo for the lamp and have it as back-up/loaner. Night season is slowly rolling in.

Ps:
This is the battery in question

Ozzer.... Chris from bikeempowerment is local to SD and sells Magic Shine goods, I believe he lives in Mira Mesa or PQ. He is pretty good with meeting up with peolple. He's came down south for some light demos a couple weeks last night ride season. If you need to source a charger/battery he may be able to get one to you. Just offering this out as some information. Here's his web info:

Palomo lent me his charger to test out my battery. We'll see. Yeah Amor, I forgot about that guy. If my battery is good then I may just ask him if he sells the charger. If not, hello internet shopping. Thank a bunch guys and thanks for the offer Ryan.

Dang I thought chris stopped that venture, nice to know I need another light!

If the charger dilly thing works you could just splice a new plug onto the charger you have. Seems from magic shines website there all the same charger specs. Quick trip to radioshack and two minutes of solder work could possibly fix it for cheap.
