Ok so I have a 2007 Marz XC700SL fork that probably hasn't had an oil/seal change since 2007. For some reason... I am only getting like 3inchs of travel out of a 130mm fork. What do I do and who do I see about helping me fix it?

Thanks in advance

every time i have had issues with reduced travel, its usually due to either too much oil in the fork (hydro-locking) or too much air pressure.

^Agreed. But a quick question for the OP, has it had 3" of travel since day one, or just recently? If it was since day one, it might be the oil level or air pressure. If it is recently (relatively speaking), something may have broken inside.

simple enough, let almost all the air out...keeping about 2-5psi in the fork.
then compress your fork all the way. if you get full travel with almost no air in the fork, then you simply had too much air in there.
if you dont get full travel, something is f'cked up in there and its time to take it apart to see what is restricting your travel.

ummm, this is to be expected. less air volume = softer forks. but i'm not insinuating you let all the air out and go for a ride on it.
as long as you have a fork pump, air is free and you can always pump it back up to whatever you currently have it at.
the reason behind letting the air out is to see if you can compress the fork in your garage and get full travel with less air volume.
if they do compress all the way, then the problem of you not getting full travel on your rides is because either you have too much air in the fork, or you arent hitting anything big enough to make it compress all the way.
for example; a 4" travel fork will only get 4" of travel on a big hit...which usually is only about 10-15% of the ride.

Danny,

Don't know if you found this already. Here is your manual:

https://www.marzocchi.com/admin/download.asp?LN=UK&idC=1561&Campo=ManualeInglese&IDFolder=126&IDOggetto=30832

and Cambria may have parts:

http://www.cambriabike.com/Marzocchi-Bike-Fork-Parts.asp

So did you try what HH said to be sure you can get full travel? And then did you set the pressure to start by measuring sag (say 1" or a little more for your 130mm fork) using a ziptie? Do that, then go for your favorite ride. Similar to what HH said, i think you want to see the ziptie hit full travel at least once during the ride, or close to it.

and just an extra .02; dont use zip ties on your fork stanchions outside of your garage.
its ok for a quick sag setup, but if you go out riding with a zip tie around your stanchion, the hard plastic of the zip tie combined with the dirt and grime from riding will eventually scratch your shit up bad enough to leak oil. (key word eventually).
if you need a travel indicator, use rubber o-rings. they are softer material.

^^^ yeah, there are others who will say don't use a ziptie, and the scratch scenario is theoretically possible if you get a piece of grit caught in that little space where the ziptie cinches and isn't flush. Theoretically a ziptie could increase stiction too, but I don't buy that either. No need to be paranoid. Just push the ziptie down when you want to measure sag or travel, then just push it up against the crown and leave it there all the rest of the time. No problemo.

apparently OldDogDan doesnt feel as strongly about zip ties as i do...however if he knew that a baby kitten dies EVERY time someone puts a zip tie on their fork....he may feel a bit differently.
