Success, got a XT Shadow plus RD, XT cassette and XT shifters to replace the remaining SLX drive train parts on my sons Nomad.

I considered it. But I'm going to wait until after summer when I get him a Carbon Nomad. Though I'm thinking about just skipping that step and just getting him a V10.
