Abz, what headset are you waiting for?

Ill have the Cane Creek out of my sons Nomad Friday or Saturday if you need one to use while you're waiting for yours. It's got maybe three rides on it.

Thanks for the offer. I have a Cane Creek 110 in red ordered, it will arrive on Thursday. I don' think the headset from your son's bike will fit mine. The steerer tube on my fork is 1.5 straight, not tapered.

Nope, won't work. His fork was tapered.

N10Sive brought his new bike in yesterday from North Of the Boarder, so we both were building our bikes.

Thanks everyone! Stu, you have a nice new bike too!

I did my first ride today at Lake Morena on the carbon nomad.
I don't know how to put it into words, b/c it felt fucking awesome!
It felt like I was riding a cloud, smooth and soft.
Really easy to get it into the air.
Very nimble, precise. Easy to pedal uphill.
I have never ridden a bike like this before. My nomad aluminum is a tank compared to this.
It was like I was riding my road bike when pedaling, but it absorbed everything on the trail.
I just to get used to the bike and build some confidence with it.

Ah I remember the days with fondness when I used to turn my living room into a bike shop, get grease on the carpet, spill beer, and have the whole place smelling like chain lube. Those days ended a long time ago with the words "I Do".

Thanks for the memories guys and be sure to enjoy it while it lasts!

Did my first climb on the 1X10 drivetrain and man climbing is a bitch!
I'm running 36 in front and 12-36 cassette in the back.
It almost felt like I'm riding my single speed bike again.
I have to put down 90% + power down every pedal stroke to keep my momentum up to make up the steep hills.

That's the problem right there. Have to be in beast mode to climb a 36 front ring.

+1 Try running a 34 or 32 and it'll be much better. I'm running 1x10 on my NomadC with a 32t up front and 11-36. It's no granny but it doesn't completely suck even at La Costa and other climby spots.
