Wow...met a friendly mountain biker on the trail today whose bike had a set of these Magura hydraulic rim brakes. We got to talking about the geology of the area, and the old seashells on the hills. Seeing these brakes was like finding a fossil of a fish crawling out onto land...


Edit: I figured these were like some evolutionary step between rim brakes and modern hydraulic discs, which they were. But I was surprised to find they still make them for mountain bikes. And I guess some trials riders like them. But Magura have some brand new models out for road bikes. Apparently way more powerful, aerodynamic, and only about a hundred grams heavier.
