Hello all! I need help from someone who can weld aluminum.
The lockout on my Rock Shox Revelation broke and it needs to be welded back together.
It's quite a small piece. Below are pictures to give you an idea what needs welding.
If anyone can help me out, i would greatly appreciate it. I'll buy you lunch!
Thanks!

Maybe try epoxy/jb weld? There's not a lot of material there, I can't imagine you can weld that up. I also don't really know what I'm talking about other than having observed a repair of my frame. :D

^^^ I agree with Paul. Don't bother trying to weld it unless you just like seeing things get destroyed.

i think he ^ is right...not much material to support a weld...but then again i have only welded steel, never aluminimunminum.
regardless of my lack of exp, it doesnt look thick enough to hold up to the heat necessary for welding.
jb weld might be your only hope, although i dont see that holding up very long due to the stress applied form the cable/lever/action.

quit being a cheapass, buy another lever, they are only like $100 right?

Have to find a TIG welder but like the others, not much there plus it's pretty much cast pot metal so welding might be a waste of money that could go towards a new piece.
JB weld at the least might get it handled for a while
Good luck

When I first glanced at this on the topics list I thought it said "Wedding Album Help Needed." :?

About the best you can do is try the JBWeld. Once you get the pieces together, maybe you can lay down a "weld bead" of epoxy over the seam. I wouldn't hold out much hope though.

I have the quick cure jb weld for you. You should let it sit for 24 hours for a full cure though.

Yeah, $100 fucking dollars! Cartmen's words, "If I'm going to get screwed, at least give me a reach around".

Looks like I will have to try out the JB weld, and then I might put electric tape around it to give it extra hold. There is no way I'm going to spend $100 for this piece.

I'm really annoyed with SRAM (Rock Shox) parts, they break way to easily, and are fucking expensive.
I was riding last week, went OTB and broke the "Match Maker" back plate and now my shifter is just hanging and my brake is being held by one thin strip. The match maker costs $25 fucking dollars!!! It cost them to make in china for $0.05, but are sold for $25 fucking dollars to us! What about brake pads, or tires, they are both more expensive than car parts. I can get car tires and disk brakes for my car cheaper than my bike.

if it get's welded it will have to be a "mirco weld" real $$$, cheaper to buy.

JB weld will be a $10 fix, will have to clump it up, build it up, sort of. It will look like a wad of gum when it drys.
