I'll give it a try if you like. I need to remove all of the paint from the piece, so it will need to be repainted, if it works. And there is no guarantee that it will work. No charge though. PM me.

Thanks, but I think it will just recast the aluminum. That seems to be the easiest and cheapest way.

If you JB Weld it, you could try reinforcing the seam by gluing (JB Welding) scraps of metal to the outside once you've glued the two pieces together. Pieces of aluminum cans might work as the reinforcing splints. You can cut them with scissors and they're easy to bend into shape. Three layers of aluminum can with JB Weld epoxy in between should be pretty strong.

Some of the silicone adhesives can also be pretty good for joining pieces of metal. They might even be better than epoxy where you get a lot of vibration. I've used Permatex Part 16B to join pieces of aluminum. I had to use a heat gun when I needed to get them apart again a few years later. You can get Permatex Part 16B at auto parts stores.
