I ended up going with the MS 808E with a wide angle lens, excellent price and free shipping:

This Cree looks interesting too for 1/2 the price:

 Thanks again everybody for all the input.

glad you got the wide angle lens. for me the baja had a way better dispersion pattern with their optional wide angle reflector. the simple wide angle lens for the magic levels the playing field to a large extent......and for $5!

This one's in the mail. Probably not 2300 lumens but still looks pretty damn bright from the pics. At the least its twin LED. 42 bucks shipped.

At the beginning of the season (around daylight savings time) I geared up and bought a nice magic shine light with an upgraded battery. I was very hesitant to buy one of the knock-offs because of prior experience with cheap lights. After about 5 night rides my old trusty helmet light died so I took a chance on the Chinese knock off lights. I'll be damned, I couldn't be happier with the China light. I wish I would have never over payed for the MS. I'm sure over time the MS will outlast, however at less than a quarter of the price.... you do the math.

I ride hard, I ride fast, I'm no race pro.. Buy a couple china lights I'm sure they'll do the job.

btw.. I too have broken my neck C-1 & C-7, you'll be fine with this set up.

Different light but similar LED setup and I can say it's RIDICULOUSLY BRIGHT!!!! Looking at the light beam bounced off the ceiling from this leaves spots in front of your eyes, and w/ the 3 LEDs it creates a huge beam - it will light 1/2 my back yard at one time. 3 XML-T6's in one light head is just awesome :)

It was sold as a 3000 lumen light, but also said it only draws 5000ma which means there is no way each led is throwing 1000 lumens. Whatever it really is - it's freakin bright though.

yes it's VERY bright and the flood pattern is really nice on full power. I also have mitycross400 on the bars, with combo on the 3*XML on low (single LED used) is a perfect for normal riding then switch on to beast mode for the decents or flowy singles so everything can be taken at speed. Cordless Minewt 600 on the helmet for lighting the path for tight cornering. I can't even make a light cheaper then what the cloned clones are priced at. I made a double XPG w/ regina optics for $80 few yrs ago + battery pack, that is heading to the loaner bucket soon

BTW that flashlight would be funny to take the dog walking

Oh and here is what my friend uses and the clone matches it in brightness at 1/10th the cost

got my upgraded battery for the 3*XML light. 10000mah and should last 3 hours on high with this sucker. It's 4x26650 cells oppose to the normal 4x18650, cost was $35 from LT-BOX.com

Sorry if I blind you at cala

^^^ Very good. Your Janis post made me kinda sad as she will, but this had me momentarily puzzled, then actually laughing out loud. A better way to start the day.
