Now that Minion is getting a little heavier, it's getting harder to make the climbs with him in his trailer.
So it is time to get on board with the clipless movement...late as I am. I looked at some shimanos at sport chalet. These will be my first clipless pedals and since the bike will be a commuter as well, I'd like shoes that don't sound like a trodding horse while I'm going through the store.

Any suggestions?

I use 661 shoes with crank brothers candy pedals, I used to have the mallets on my mountain bike and the candy on my road bike. They work great, fit really well and I can wear them all day!

I have some Time Z pedals and Time MXC shoes in size 46 (about 12 US) that I used for about 5 rides before I realized I'm not skilled enough to be attached to my pedals. I'd let them go for $40 each. I'm also in Escondido if you want to give them a try before you make a decision.

I've gone in the other direction; to flats.
From the 661 Filter/Crank Bros Mallet combo, to 5.10 Freeride/Canfield Crampon setup.

Mine are size 45.

What size (in metric) shoe do you wear.

I've got a pair of Shamano's in excellent condition I'll let go cheap.
They're just sitting on the shelf in the garage might as well get some use.

I should have checked the site again. I'm a 45.

I ended up getting a pair of specialized with a recessed cleat and shimano clipless platform combo. Right about $160.
I have been converted for the road. I'll probably stick with flats on my mountain bike.
