That was my sentiment as well. I wrote a review on it here.

I put one one my Trance two weeks ago. Chain slap virtually gone and I don't even notice it's there.

If you want to get rid of chain slap noise and protect your frame, check out this product.

A bunch of people have been raving about how good that stuff is lately, I might just have to try it out.

I had the misfortune of riding my bike without chain and derailleur (broken hanger) on some downhill stuff over the weekend and I never realized just how much noise the chain makes even with the lizard skin CS protector and chainguide!

I just got a 2012 reign and want to run a stinger also. I found an iscg adapter that clamps onto the bb shell. It's made by clutch mtb solutions. However it has not been advertised to run 2x setups yet. I emailed the guys at clutch and asked if the stinger will work and they said they have not tried that setup yet but think it should work with the right spacing.

I'm like a mechanical retard and that sounds hard to me. Didn't even know press fit bb's had spacers....

So it's either I so that or just get the bionicon c guide which I read falls off a lot...

What should I do?

not quite sure i understand this completely, but a stinger will take the place of 1 of your spacers regardless of the way it attaches. the spacer and stinger are both the same thickness so just remove one spacer on the chainring side where you put the stinger in. very simple.

this keeps your chainline straight for proper shifting, reduced cross chaining and unwanted (phantom) shifts.

Danny, I put a BB mount Stinger on my 2-chainring Trance about six months ago, and am happy with it. (If a 2012 Reign doesnt have ISCG tabs, don't get that adapter, just get the BB mount Stinger). This is what I posted then:

olddogdan wrote:
The other downgrade was adding weight with a Blackspire Stinger. Didn't cost much, and reviews were mostly positive, although there were stories of having to grind down crankbolts or dremel out slots. Its a BB mount, and I installed it per directions, with it in place of one spacer, and the remaining spacer next to the frame. Tightened it up, and damn, the crankbolts rubbed! I cogitated a minute, then moved the spacer to the "wrong" side. Works great now, at least in terms of shifting, fit and alignment. Time will tell.

And Jeremy said this:

Dan, If you ride over rocks and stuff, keep an eye on the Blackspire. Because it is BB mount it can, and will, rotate if it takes a hit. On my Reign I had a BB mount chain guide and it would often get pushed up into the chainstay.

This did happen on one occasion, and i just whacked it back into position (and then double-checked the BB tightness).

you guys ride too hard. you're gonna get hurt.

and danny, like olddogdan i too have the bb mount. never had a problem with it. apparently just not riding hard enough. true that.

press fit BB dudes.... press fit bb....

oh and no ISCG tabs

http://www.clutchmtb.com/

email from Clutch:

"We haven't tried this setup but have heard it works. If you'd like to give it a go and let us know how it goes we'd love that. If it doesn't work we'll take the adapter back and credit you. You will need to get creative with spacing in the bb and the guide, but it should work, especially if you're mechanically inclined. Sound cool?"

haven't had a press fit bb, but no spacers? you need spacers to shift from a triple or single to a double chainring or your chainline will be off whether press fit or threaded, i would think.

yeah, read the clutch site too. good luck.

Haha... Your a "mechanical retard", by your own admission. That's funny.. No worries I'm sure you can get er done. None of this bike stuff is that hard. I don't do press fit BB's or I'd offer up my services.

Ah...I see. Seems like it might work but would definitely take some fitting time. Their offer to return for credit isn't much help if that is all they make. So take a shot and risk the cost, or just ride it stock while you look for another solution.

I'm using the Bionicon guide. It works well. One of the zip tie tabs broke so I have to zip tie to the round part. It did not change how it works.
