Hi there. New to the site. Used to ride a lot about 10 years ago but then life, work and family took over. Ended up trading my Nishiki hardtail and have regretted it since. Used to ride mission trails, El Capitan, Lake Moreno.
Well, here I am getting back into the saddle again. ( yep, going to be sore for sure). Way out of shape but want to start off slow. Been lurking around and decided to introduce myself.
Look forward to getting out there. 1st thing 1st....gotta get a bike. Been checking out craigslist. Since I'm just getting back in, don't want to spend a lot. I can always upgrade later.
Any other places to look? I know to stay away from Wal-Mart, Costco, etc...
Appreciate your suggestions, comments and advice.

Welcome to DT, and welcome back to mountain biking. You don't mention a price range or desired type of riding...but you can probably find some 2012 close out deals at local shops.

Trying to stay under the $300 price tag. Looking for occasional trail riding and some street riding with the family. Probably just need a hardtail with some front suspension.

I really need to read up and see what is out there. Last time I was really into it, Rock Shox Judy was the bomb and full suspension was really pricey. It seems just looking out there now that prices have come back to earth somewhat. Obviously, some bikes are better than others but for my initial use, I would really just need a decent used bike.

Thanks for welcoming me back.

I found a deal (at least to me) on CL yesterday and bought a bike.

I bought an older Balance AL 350. It is in decent condition and only paid $100.

This will get me back into things for a while and I can always buy a newer bike later on.

Now I have to actually get out there and start riding..oh man..sore muscles here I come!
