I'll start...

At Dirt Treaders we really aren't too concerned about how slow a rider is. What we are concerned with is everyones safety and comfort zone.
There hasn't been a single ride with Dirt Treaders that I have either hosted or joined in on that any rider felt slighted due to their level of fitness. I hope to keep that on the forefront of our philosophy.
We have all levels of riders, some are much faster than others, some have sick tech skills, some are average, some are beginners. All are welcome. All I ask, is that if there is a ride posted and it is noted as being an exposed, or dangerous or overly taxing ie: fast pace and high mileage that one would take that into consideration before accepting the invitation. Sometimes when we put ourselves at risk we also put our friends at risk. Basically, just be honest with yourself and your skillset, experience and comfort level, and ride within your means.

Please contribute to our philosophy

We done RHS! When I take part at any good ride I expect to find out that most riders are better skilled than me and to my surprise some are not and that is ok, that is what is all about, to learn from better riders and to give some back.

The way I look at Group Rides, is if I post i don't care how many people show up, doesn't matter how fast you are, just be able to finish the ride & have fun, more important is the latter.

I hate how some people will post a ride & if it gets too big they cancel it.You may have 1 or 2 show up or you may have 15-20 you never know, as alot of lurkers will show up.

If you post a group ride on an open forum, be prepared on what level rider may show up. It may be a guy who is joe racer thinking the group ride is too slow, or a newbie looking for more trails to put in their database of places to go.

If your worried about speed & time constraints don't post a group ride, you don't care & want to get out & have other peeps join you post away.

Kool stuff guys, keep it coming.
I know if I were going to ride with a group of riders I've never met or rode with before it could be daunting. I think its great that we have so many riders here that "get it".

Can't agree more. I enjoy every ride that I'm out with the DT crew. Always goor company, fun laughs, panda references, and forgotten egos. We can laugh with and at each other with no concern that feelings will be hurt. If things do get sour apologies will be quick and sincere. I'm very glad to enjoy mountain biking and random beers with the members in this community in that no one has anything to prove.

I'm highly sensitive to roadie/lycra bashing. I cry myself to sleep at night.

 Danimal feels terrible now! I never meant to hurt anyone! Maybe to make you feel better, you should A) Keep tissues next to your bed. B) Change your name to OnRoadie (still confused about that) C) Learn to play the worlds smallest fiddle so you can play "my heart cries for you" D) Sell your road bike E) Burn your Lycra

See?!! Damn!! there I go again, I just can not stop being a wiseass. All in good fun you know. In fact, I will eventually get a road bike, prolly the bamboo Calfee cyclocross bike. Then, someone may spot ME in lycra.
