Could someone please tell me how to embed something to the board? I would most like to know how to embed from Garmin Connect, And or Geoladders. I see the embed button on the bottom of the Garmin Page but when I paste the link in the posting section, only the link appears when I preview it. Thanks in advance.

I know I know, I'm a computer idiot, and I'm sure my six year old could help me out here with this embed thing, but he's in Kindergarten this morning, and, it's embarrassing to ask him for help all the time.

I think the only things you can embed here are indicated by the clickable buttons on the posting page: Img, MyspaceVideo, googlevideo, vidder, and youtube.

You can easily post a link to your Garmin Connect page - just copy the url (address) of the Garmin page and paste it in your post (I think you already figured that out).

If you want an image of your route embedded in your post, you can follow these steps (you'll need Google Earth installed first).
  • in Garmin Connect, click on the Google Earth button (right below the map)
  • depending on your browser, it will either open in GEarth right away or you may need to click on the .kml file it downloads
  • (optional) manipulate the view in Google Earth any way you'd like (zoom, pan, tilt, add markers, lines, etc.)
  • in GEarth's menu bar, click File -> Save -> Save Image. You'll be saving a .jpg file to your computer using a filename and location you select. The image you save will be a snapshot of whatever is displayed at the time
  • you can attach the .jpg to your DT post, or upload to your DT gallery or to Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket, etc. and use the [img] tag in your DT post to embed it.

The "Embed" option in Garmin Connect generates HTML code that you can use on your own web page, where you're able to edit/insert HTML. But you can't use HTML directly in DT. Those special "tags" you use in your DT posts are called "BBCode" and are limited in what you can do. The software on the DT server (the phpBB application) ultimately converts your BBCode to HTML each time the page is viewed, but you don't get to edit the HTML directly.
