I tried it on Iceweasel in Etch, but I have been having trouble getting the Flash plugin installed. I've done it before with apt -- I just have to look it up again.

I'll commit to my share. Either at the June debauchery or I'll set up a paypal account. Just for you, dood. Keep up the good work!

Thanks,

DM

besides your time, 83 bucks is what this site costs to run? That's pretty inexpensive. I just chipped even though you've achieved your goals.

For those who still wish to contribute, does it make sense to do so now or wait until licensing is due again next year? Maybe additional contributions could be applied to upgrades this year?

There should still be a Donation box at the June Debauchery. So people, such as myself who don't use paypal, can still participate. I don't like feeling of not contributing.

The way I see it is if you had planned on giving Ldood some moolah at the DT Ride it can go to either upgrades or towards next years fees if Ldood feels comfortable with it. I still plan on contributing when I see him at the DT Ride, "cause thats the kinda guy I am...a giver" 8)

In that case, apply net proceeds to any "incentives" you need in order to sit down and make the upgrades yourself. (beer, energy drinks, foot masseuse, etc.).

I'll make my contribution at the Daley ride.

I missed this thread until today. You met your goal, but I ante'd up anyway. Have to -- it's definitely the best MTB site for SD riders. (The Chip In/PayPal method worked fine). Thanks Dood for what I assume is a huge time commitment!

I'll still honor my commitment. Even if it "only" buys Dood a couple of beers...

Either way, as I was riding this morning (the 5:45 am ride no one felt like joining me for) I thought that this fundraising should be properly incentivised. Like KPBS or other services that rely on philanthropy you get different membership levels. They usually give you some perks that money can't buy. Here's my suggestion for the DTers riders club:

Hardtail level – less than $5
You obviously like it rough and hard and boy do we have a program for you. Wirk242 will take you out on a trail that neither one of you have been to before. This personalized session may include basic mountain biking tips, with classic lessons such as “the importance of bringing both wheels to a nightride” and “fork maintenance ‘south of the border style’: motor oil and rubber gloves is all you need”.

4 inch level – more than $25
You are showing that you care and so will we. Dirtmonger will give you a personalized introduction to safety when out on the trail. Lessons will be practical and results oriented. Learn to enjoy riding with 50 lbs of spare parts wearing a full-face helmet, neckbrace and full body impact suit.
Tentative ride time is August 15 at noon in Daley ranch.

7 inch level – more than $50
You have distinguished yourself as a discerning member with a keen sense for the better things in life. We will cater to this desire and offer you a personalized lesson on suspension design by QuietStorm. He will share his wealth of opinion on why Giant bikes are underrated. Take full advantage of this unique opportunity by opening the full treasure trove he has to offer. Just throw in some cues like “I wouldn’t be caught dead on a Wallmart bike” or “Specialized is not the market leader for no reason”.

10 inch level – more than $100
Only the blessed few get the opportunity to ride with the man: ElDood. You are fully committed to DTers and we will provide and equal commitment. Dood will take you on a personal tour along his favorite trails. See it in the entire splendor and hear it from the man himself. This 3 h narrated slide show on Doods couch will be an experience of a lifetime. Later you will see his bike as you two wipe off the cobwebs.

Hey now - my hardtail is no where near cheap. I think it shoud be opposite, my hard tail is harder to ride, made me a stronger and better rider, and requires more skill to ride technical stuff them those cheaters of the long travel bikes.

Pedal my mid-travel bike around and tell me how strong of a rider you are...youchers, after riding my hardtail for two weeks I fell I am back to being a week legged rider.
I do agree about the tech skills one gains from riding a hardtail. I see too many riders buying FS frames for their first bikes, sure it makes it more pleasant and seemingly easier to ride techy stuff, but when you jump past the skillset of needing to read the trail and pick lines you lose a good portion of the fundamentals needed to become a well rouded and safe rider.
