What's that mean? Anybody else get it? I'm a bit-skeered.

Uh, no, I just went to dirt readers.com, and got the 'not secure' message. Thanks.

use the https link, and you shouldn't get that warning.

http is the basic protocol to get you the web page, but https actually encrypts the communication using ssl and certs. I installed a cert a couple of years ago, but I couldn't get Apache to always redirect users. Unfortunately, that means, if you go to the http version, you won't get the encryption, and browsers lately will alert you to that. If you go to the https link I posted above, you shouldn't hear about it from your browser (except some elements like photos people posted may not be over https, and the browsers will sometimes complain about that).

Really though, this site doesn't need encryption for most stuff. The most important part is your login which will be sent in plain text over the network. If you login at a public wifi over http, you could get your login snooped, and then someone can use that to log in to this site or anywhere that you reused your login info (which... just don't).

...and once you’ve logged in to the https version and changed your bookmark or favorite or whatever you should get it thereafter. On my phone, there’s a padlock icon next to the site name to show it’s secure.
