While taking a shit today, I was going over everything that has been happening on our forum the last couple of weeks and especially today.
It's about time we represent ourselves and say "Fuck you!" to all the other mountain biker posers.

So this is my idea:
We have elections on our forum and chose 5+ members to represent us.
The mission of the elected members will be to get more trails open for us and not to bend over and take it up the ass.
Everything will be transparent, no secret meetings and other bullshit.
Every decision made must be shared with the DT community.

Members who want to run for elected position must share their name, picture and email with the DT community so we can get a hold of them if we need to.

"We have met the enemy and he is us."

(Just a comment, not a criticism).

I agree, we are our own enemy for bickering and fighting with each other.
I guess I just want a transparent democracy to represent us.

Okay, one more before I break the addiction:

"We mock what we are to be."

Goodnite friends.

I say fuck it, I'm sick of all of the "save the trails" bs. Ride em till they pave em.

I'm with you on this one, that is why I would like a group of us to push for new trails. Fuck saving the existing trails, we want more trails.

The number of trails we currently have cannot accommodate the number of riders there are out there. If the city doesn't open up more trails, someone will likely get hurt and the city will get sued.

I guess this is why we have rules and regulations to avoid walking down the same path of those that came before us.

Good luck with that -- it'll go absolutely nowhere on this board.

DT, SoCalmtbr, SoCal PinkBike, STR,OTB,PRO,StupidAss,RideMonkey SoCal and GP to my estimate has an active rider/ builder base of 500 members. Advocacy can go a number of ways!!

The term "ride em till they pave em"illustrates the difference in opinions within this very community. As the trail withers away under the exodus of riders that term simply means rape someone else's toil with little reach around, so the trail will go from jumps, berms, rollers, ladders to completely nothing but dust and become smooth so roadies can ride on it too.

We can do better than this. There is plenty of open space in SoCal to build and maintain in SoCal, but you have to get off the shitter and explore.

I think this is a great idea. Maybe DT could adopt Calvera like other groups have at TW. It would be great to see DT organized trail days. I'd be there to help.

Post subject:  Re: Taking a shit

I think we have talked about this many times on the trails. I think the biggest reason it hasn't been done yet is because of the liability (legal, etc..) it would pose on DT (I may be wrong). If it happens, I would join a comittee to help out, but would not be able to commit to a full time role.

however, it did freak me out a bit that you were on the can thinking about this and how mtn bikers are taking it up the butt....

In for a penny, in for a pound, so here goes -- how did things work out for you at TW?

edit: I take that back -- at least you cared enough to try.

Just go ride TW and find out for yourself.

I'm done bagging on SDMBA, they do that well enough on their own.
SDMBA is not my mouth piece; it's more like the rangers' mouth piece.

This reminds of the movie "Brave Heart" where William Wallace walks out of the room and says he's going on the offensive and they start laughing at him because SDMBA and every other group is fighting for scraps.

All the nay sayers can go eat shit. I want a group of us to go on the offensive and let the ranger and city know that there are not enough trails for the large number of mountain bikers here in San Diego, and to provide us more trails. No more fighting for scraps, we are moving on the offensive and are demanding more trails. More trails not just for mountain bikers, but for hikers and equestrians too. I don't care how much people hate horse shit, because I love horses and I welcome them to the trails.
