I'm planning to drive from San Diego to Boise to San Diego in early April. I'm planning on bringing my bike to hit up some spots on the way home. Any input about trails between here and there would be awesome  I was thinking of coming back along the 15 and checking the SLC area and S. Utah, but going through Nevada seems cool too. Not sure about the time of year, etc. Too early for the hills? Thanks again

Check the Idaho subforum in the regional section of MTBR. There's a sticky on Boise Area Trails.

My BIL and his family lived in Boise for many years, so I've gone on rides with them up there. I've only ridden the "Boise foothills" and the trails I've been on are very well-maintained single track. Fun stuff. You can ride all the way up to the Bogus Basin ski area which is a good climb. I think April is usually great conditions -- not too hot or cold, trails still tacky -- but the weather can be unpredictable. Seems to me they're having a dry year.

I'm sure you'll get lots of feedback on S. Utah and the Vegas area.

Have fun!

If you're specifically talking Idaho, the trails in Sun Valley are said to be awesome (sure look like it in the DVD Roam). But it is not directly on the way back from Boise.

Besides the above link from randomwalk, for Idaho check http://swimba.org/ and http://www.snakerivermountainbikeclub.com/.

But you really asked about anywhere between here and there. The choices are many. Partly depends on what kind of riding you like. But get out your map, then start searching through the DT Treader Reports. There is literally all the information you need in there for an excellent trip.
