I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and hit up Vail Lake. My riding partner got stuck at work, so it was just me, my bike, and random wildlife I met along the way. I forgot to bring a camera, so the cell phone pics will have to do.

Getting ready to roll

In the middle of climbing a random stick decided to shove itself in my derailleur. A little trail side fixing and I was on my way again.

Enjoying the views after a long climb
Image

After climbing sandy washed out fireroad, it was nice to see some rocky singletrack, woot!
Image

Oh yeah, more crappy views
Image

If I ever figure out how to find this trail again I hope it won't decide to try and kill me like it did last night. Crazy steep, loose, rocks, jumps, and tons of fun! Still trying to wipe the smile off my face. :bang:

Because my bike is a photo whore

All in all a great ride!

No wonder I was swearing so much on my XC bike.

It's in kinda rough shape, some overgrown spots, some of the berms are blown out. Most of the jumps seem to be holding up pretty well though (I skipped them).

I only saw the two ladder drops/rollers at the bottom. More exploration is necessary I'm sure! (I didn't want to get too lost while riding alone. I'm a chicken!) All I saw and thought was "Ohhhhhhh trail pointed down in the general direction I need to go to find my truck again"

there's only ever been two ladders, at the bottom....the upper structure was only the start platform for the race and was removed shortly after the race.

that trail is really the only good downward pointing trail out there...(IMO)

Wow, sweety. I should probably send you all my ride pics and do the reporting for me. I'm too much of an ass to describe stuff.

Italo
Is this the same trail you're talking about?
http://www.vimeo.com/2806500
It's from our very first run during practice when they held the Hillbilly DH Race.
(that's DT's Andyeti I was following, btw.. hihihihi His first time ever on a DH bike and on a "DH" trail/course)

I've been nmeaning to explore the other spots there. Too close to home not to.

yep, that vid is EC's DH trail...
there are tons of other trails out there, but none as steep and techy as that one (unless its new and built within the last 6 months).

for the EC DH trail, you used to be able to self shuttle up the 'ambulance road', but last i heard the owner had put a stop to that... :(
last time we went there (6 or so months ago), we had to push our DH sleds up that bitch....that was NOT fun.....trust me.
