I took my new singlespeed for a shakedown ride through PQ canyon this morning at sunrise. But left my camera at home.

There was a double rainbow arcing up above the south rim of the canyon across towards the north rim. It wasn't raining, so this was more of a haze-bow than a real rainbow. But it was clear and bright.

I climb the powerlines fire road to test the new drivetrain bits, and they all worked just fine. I get to the top and take the connector horsey trail west from the top of power lines towards sidehill, and what do I see?

The rainbow is now pointing directly down to Torrey Pines beach, and there is a large pillowy white cloud structure illuminated by the sunrise. It looked like the rainbow was pointing directly at an enormous iceberg just offshore. You couldn't ask for a more picturesque setup, and there I am without a camera.

Riding back eastward I got rewarded with a nice gentle shower to cool off the ride. What a great morning spin.

Good post! (Insert famous double-rainbow YouTube vid here). Are you sure it wasn't pointing at Blacks Beach? Hope there was no golden tinge to that shower...

But enough of that NBR stuff. How was the new bike?

Hi ODD,

Part of the bummer about not bringing my camera is that I didn't get to photo my new steed on it's maiden ride. I'll post up a proper new-bike entry on the singlespeed page once I get some decent trailside pix.

Bah, it is probably better anyways. Who the hell wants to see or hear you blubbering on about the double rainbow anyways. I hate that video.
