Ok, so first up, I'm spending my birthday weekend in Santa Cruz and I told all my friends that are joining me that i'm going riding for a day ( none of them ride ) (( great friends I have )). So I need to know if any body know's the area well enough to point me in the right direction? I'm going off of spots on strava right now, but they only really show the most well known, I want the good stuff.

I want fast flow with north shore style :)

But I will take wild DH or even anything desending, I have a ride to the top of any hill.

Thanks for any input

Soquel Demo Forest. Plenty of reports and directions on DT and elsewhere, like MTB Bill's site, and maps online.

By the way, Happy Birthday! Sounds like it will be.

I was going to say the demo forest too. It's really good riding there. Def will have to pay to play though. Long and gradual climb or tough and steep to get to the trail heads I did. I climbed the longer way and headed down the tractor trail and planned on hitting the Braille trail after. Needless to say I skipped Braille and just climbed back out to my car. The climb out was pretty decent too. A lot of wooden man made features in that forest... You can play most of a day if you wanted

Soquel Demo is pretty awesome if you don't mind earning it. I would personally make sure to hit Braille. Last time I was up there I did the long way up, down Ridge, down Braille, up Tractor, down Braille again. Then of course you're looking at a 3 mile climb out to the car :( Keep in mind it's ~45 minutes to trailhead (or 90 minutes in Santa Cruz time) if you're dragging people along.

There is a ton of good stuff up behind UCSC, that's what you are really looking for. When exactly are you going up? I have a good friend that lives there that would probably give you a tour if he's around. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you some more info.

Thanks everyone! I'll most likely be hitting up the Local UCSC trails so my friends don't have to wait for me all day ! But then again I may just get lost of purpose :)

Wilder Ranch, close to UCSC. Take the trails that say no access.
