Being the So cal traveler that I am during the week, I finally decided to start taking the bike with me and try other "local" rides near the hotel. Been wanting to check out Sycamore Canyon in Riverside right behind the Jenson warehouse for quite some time and today was the day. Trails were great and only saw two riders in two hours.

This place is full on flowy single track

The only water was right where it should be

Can't wait for the next time I stay at this hotel so I can ride here again.

Nice! I'm all over SoCal all the time for work and I often bring along the bike. Getting in some new (or favorite old) singletrack after work makes the "business" trips worthwhile.

Finally purchased a vehicle where the bike can stay inside all day and not be too visible so I'm going to start dragging it along. Don't really know if it bad to have it laying on it's side all the time though.

Well, tomorrow I'm staying in Fontana so I will ride the local trails there

Yup, it was a big factor while shopping for my latest car: will the bike fit in the trunk with the back seats folded down? Had to pass on a few models because the passage space between the trunk and back seats were too small.

Another spot right across the 60/215 is Box Canyon Mountain or Box Mountain or something like that. It is the mountain with the big letters on it.

It is a Black Mountain-ish fire road with some trails off to the side if you look in the right places. Once you get to the top there is a fun single track that runs down the face where the "M" is on the mountain. It is a good challenge. I don't remember the mileage (12ish rings a bell) but it was a nice alternative if you ever want some climbing out there.

Everytime I am in San Berdo for work, I keep wishing I brought the bike. Just that when the days are long enough to ride in the evening is when the smog and heat is at its best.

***EDIT*** Found the name Box Spring Mountain

Yeah, definitely good to have a commute vehicle that you can stuff a bike in. I love being able to get good gas mileage while keeping my bike incognito and secure. It's a sedan though, so I don't think I can stack two. Haven't really tried yet though. That's what racks, SUVs, and trucks are for. Oh, and never had any problem laying it on its side. A lot of my friend do that too.

This week I got to check out Towsley Trails by Magic Mountain, trails around the hotel up there, and just got back from Sacamore in Moreno valley. This places rocks :bang:
I rode with a couple of locals that showed me some trails that really flowed. There are a bunch of rocky features and the trails remind me of a larger, more flowy Calavera. Gotta be riding here more often so I will plan my hotel nearby

Yeah, Towsley and other stuff around Valencia/Newhall is great. That's where I started riding trails and Towsley was my backyard local trail. Still miss that one.

Is the oil still seeping across the trail on the bottom of the canyon?

...and importing it while we build a pipeline across our whole damn country so the Canadians can sell their oil to the Chinese.
