Went back to AZ where I started riding to spend Christmas with my parents. My brother and I have convinced my dad to ride a bit. We hit Sweetwater for a few minutes- ended up being a bit less "beginner" for my dad, but nice to spend just some time with him the day before Xmas.

A little different terrain than most of SD

Had to head home on the 26th, but wasn't leaving until around 11:00 AM. So I decided it was a good idea to go ride the 50 Year Trail/'Chutes once again. It's the last ride I did in 2004 before moving to SD. Always one of my favorites and was close to my place.

O'dark:30 in the morning and in the high 20's...

For size reference, this is a really nice one

There's still a bit of snow on the Catalinas

Here's the top of the 'Chutes. We started riding this before "all mountain" or "progressive" riding. Easy to ride on any bike, yet always leaves a smile.

There's a deep section to ride through. It's a bit wider than it used to be, but still plenty deep

Rolling downhill singletrack: instant smiles

Talk about multi-use trail

Got back to the truck, a bit more sunlight now, along with more people and the temps were finally in the high 30's

Love AZ. Some of my favorite desert camping and biking. Suagaros are totally different cactus than here in SD, like big cactus trees. Thanks for sharing.
