Pictures from Wilder Ranch State Park near Santa Cruz, probably about a month ago. I went there twice, once out of curiosity, and once because it was too hot everywhere else. It's a nice place. It's on the coast; on the second day I rode, it was about one hundred in the Easy Bay, but this place seem to be high-sixties on the coast (sort of chilly) to mid-eighties a couple of miles inland.

It has an interesting mix of oak forest, grasslands, and valleys with redwood groves. Too much ranch road, but a lot of nice single track. The grades are pretty gentle, not much HAB here, even for me.

more shaded singletrack - I'm thinking from the Enchanted Grove trail.

Getting back to the coast from the Enchanted Grove area - not a typical MTB picture. I came back on the trail/road/path along the cliffs.

The singletrack is not technical. One trail, Zane Gray something, was a little rocky. But the scenery and the flow was great.

Thanks for the post. I grew up near there, but I did not ride while I lived there. I need to go back sometime and check it out.

Ahh nice to see wilder pics. :) used to ride there a ton, from my house in felton I could ride dirt from hills to beach through forest and back again. There are also a ton of other trails above ucsc that are fun.

Oh, the memories! I went to UCSC and rode there with my friends for years in the early nineties. Used to love it! We would ride out the 1 from campus. One time, we strapped a 1990 video camera (huge) to one of my friends helmet to catch some singletrack action. Needless to say, the mount couldn't handle the weight and it went bouncing down the trail. The video was hilarious though as none of us owned the camera!
