Today had a chance to check out a new mtb park, located only a mile from the border but between TJ and Tecate on a private ranch.
They have a xc route that it was very hard, about 6 miles and designed for racing.
I walked some of the climbs, that's not new but it was much demanding than what I expected, great views, and they plan to add bmx track and freeride skills track.
Mtb is very popular in Baja California, go to the Velo Swap-Meet in Balboa in a couple of weeks and you'll see what I mean, there are hardly any bikes shops down there and the ones they have only have low end parts and bikes.
Thanks to turiha for convincing me to go and driving the the ranch.
On the some of the pictures:

Just across the border, interesting.

If you look hard you can see the border fence on the left side.

We had to come back before the food was ready, dam it!

Can't wait to go back.

Good times.

Is very interesting, they do some kiler epic rides, from what I've seen not a lot of singletrack but lots of old service roads, I'm looking forward to ride go on some of them.

Keep us posted. I need to get my passport renewed, but I'm sure a couple of us would be interested.

I know you guys already did it, but we need to work on another epic ride w/ border crossing. Perhaps Tecate again to get a free beer at the brewery.

Is part of the same series, it was a big art proyect a couple of years ago, they had them at the mayor cities around Mexico, sitting on busy intersections, near landmarks, bus stations, some of the art work on those cows was amazing that's if you into art.

Glad you came Jose.
It was a great new experience for me also as I started to mntbike in Chula Vista when I was living there, but now I live in Tijuana and I'm looking for other options
to ride.
This was something that I really wasn't expecting. This is going to be a race course for the mtb league in Baja and we got to go to the inaguration.
The course is +5 miles long, most of it is climing :P
but it wasn't the climbing that I'm used to, I did walk a couple of times
This is going to be a nice course to compete in if we have some racers in Dirt treaders.
Hope to see you guys sometime in my neck of the woods.

This place is not near the beach, is actually on the northeastern part of TJ and very close to Tecate.
This proyect is on the very early stage, if they can get it going as they plan it with a BMX track, a mtb skills park and maybe more singletrack it will be a very nice place to go and make a day out of it but not yet.
