Any chance I can get some confirmations from those who know they are going? I'd like to set up a carpool situation if possible.

If you know you are not going but hinted you will be going please let me know. I don't want a situation where the slow riders don't go because they think it will be a fast paced ride...while the fast riders dont go because they think it will be a slow paced ride.

Tfitz? QuietStorm? Singleminded?

I'm in 100%. I drive a silver civic, and I live in North County, and honestly, I don't know if I'd want anyone elses' bike on the truck rack I use to haul the X1 around on. It's probably about as old as I am.

Ok - update - just got an email from a friend who's done SJ from the bottom many many times. He's a good rider, so no worries about him at all... he might be coming with me on Saturday... I'm waiting to hear back from him. I just told him about it, so I'm playing the waiting game.

Coolio! I'll see you Saturday 8:30 at the trailhead.

Dan's 6 recomended things, if your going and don't want to bonk...
1) get lots of rest from here on out.
2) stay hydrated from here on out
3) eat right from here on out
4) your big carb night should actually be the day before the day before a big ride. So Friday after work, fire up a big bowl of......pasta. Dude, what were you thinking?
5) have a FULL camelback and two water bottles. if you dont have room for the two extra bottles, I suggest you drink a lot of water when you wake up and on the drive over there. member, if your thirsty, its too late and dehydration has already set in. So drink b4 your thirsty and eat b4 you get hungry (ideally that applies to non-riding days too)
6) eat a heart breakfast, eat a powerbar on the way and bring at least 2 bars for the ride. technically you may not need to eat so much during the ride but I find its a mental boost to eat on breaks.

I meant to say tonight. Its a little known fact (I read in Lance's book) that you should carb up the night before the night before a big ride. This gives the energy time to convert. Over just 12 hours is not enough. Just some thoughts.

Looks like I will be passing on the SJT ride and opt for the Cuyamaca run.......that way the pace won't be too high for you guys

Really.....It is a shorter drive for me so I do it more often.....enjoy guys

I'd like to go with tomorrow. And since i've wanted to go for so long, I figure going with a group is the smarter way to go, esp for such a biggie.
I'll be there by 8:00 a.m..

Who's got the camera that I hauled up that hill? I'm dying to see those pics, more for the exhausted look on everyone's faces than anything and the view from the top.

It was a blast. Those who didn't make it, it was a bitch of a climb, but fun on the return trip... check the report.
