Short notice, but my friend is a total noob, has not made it to the gate yet from the Santee starting point. So sssssllllllllllloooooowww with maybe lots of breaks ride to try to see if he can make it to the gate.

I'll be there in my little civic, riding a Turner starting from the Santee dirt parking lot

So my noob friend kicked ass today. He was always hammering when riding with another group he was riding with & the farthest he's gone is 9 miles.

So today I told him just be a spinner, noting too fast or slow, just a nice flow, build the lungs & no hammering big gears to go fast.

We got to the gate & he felt good, so we continue towards the 4 way on the north end of the ranch house. We get there & he says he feels good to go to the North Parking Lot. Get to the North Park Lot, says he feels good to do Martha's trail. :bang:

He basically did the loop we got in 17 miles almost double what his best was of 9 miles.

He was pumped, I was pumped. He did awesome. He said his legs felt good from spinning & not hammering. It was an awesome ride today.

No switchbacks. Just the twisties trails down the center.I honestly thought we weren't going to even make the gate after all my friends said he hasn't made it, in the two times he went there.

He's a total believer now on being a spinner & building lungs. Said when he was hammering the big gears to keep up with the group his legs were jello. I told him from the start just finish the ride, forget how fast you are.

My friend who went with him previosly said he only made it to the towers the first ride. Second ride said they made it to the bottom of switchback & went back. (They didn't climb switchback.)

Today he does a 17 miler, talked to him we were both pumped how well he did, got another one hooked :drunk:
