Is this ride today (Wed), DM?

Phonger - yes it was, until I heard news that I will be sans bike today. My rear wheel finally will get rebuilt as it did not even survive one single ride. That will happen by tomorrow night. So, if that is an option, we can do tomorrow night. Blk Mtn is short in staff, so I am relying on them pulling through.

I will pray to the Black Mountain gods for you. So you bought a new back wheel and it got messed up?

No, my stock wheels just have reached the end of their useful life. I will have the rear rebuilt to keep riding (new rim and spokes - settled for what was in stock) and in the meantime have some better ones built so I don't have to deal with this any more.

If all goes well I'll have a rebuilt rear tomorrow and a whole new wheelset next week. If this turns out to be crap too, I'm goin apesh**. But RHS has provided me with some good advice. It's not going to be as flashy as I originally wanted, but it should be quite nice: DT 5.1d, 240s hubs, double butted Wheelsmith spokes, brass nipples. I'll apply myself to bring those to the limit. Nothing a little ineptitude can't break...

Aaaah... DM is back on a roll. Some old stock Mavic 832 got put on the rear and survived Tunnels. As I head up towards the Eucalyptus grove... voila... it's Eric and Phonger. So back again for another shot at breaking it. Still lokin' good. I'll have to apply myself at the weekly La Costa bonanza.

Hope I can talk Phonger into setting up a weekly LQP/tunnels ride. Seems we could at least be a pack of three DTs. Hell, I'll go even if Phonger is decked out in Lycra. I'll draw the line at speedos, though. Speedos are not cool.

Ah, and next time I'll bring goggles so I don't have to be ridin with sunglasses at night.
