Ok, one more Political Event.

Oceanside residents please attend the City Council meeting on May 22 at 5pm to show your oppositions to the North River Farms Project.

For us this REALLY doesn't gain riding space, but it shows our interest concern about maintaining OPEN SPACE and stopping "Urban Sprawl". In TURN this buys us RESPECT and Hopefully some POLITICAL GOODWILL with Preserve Calavera and SIERRA CLUB.

Make/Bring signs that say MTN Bikers OPPOSE North River Farms or Urban Sprawl or something like that.

Thanks to You- NRF Loses Another Round !

Thank You to everyone who called, emailed, made signs, researched, attended, spoke, and did all you did to realign the planets to defeat NRF in one more round!

Last night the Oceanside Planning Commission voted unanimously to deny the North River Farms project. Now it goes to the City Council for final hearing on Wed May 22 . This is the third time the Planning Commission heard the project- and the third time they recommended denial.

Their key concerns were: 1. The need to update the General Plan instead of piecemeal planning in a way that jeopardizes the work that has been done to keep agriculture viable in Oceanside. 2. It is not smart growth and is not consistent with our Housing Element- and the very real need to build more affordable housing - where it makes sense.

The developer turned out many Oceanside residents who thought it was a fabulous project- many with questionable motivation. But in the end, common sense, the facts, solid staff work and the power of grassroots engagement in issues that matter by people like YOU prevailed.

Thank you all. Take a deep breath. Relax. And then get ready for the final round on May 22.
