Planning a Retro Ride for Sat May 5 8:30 Starting from the parking lot off Sunset Dr. Ride will head to the South side of the lake.

Dust off those OLD bikes hanging in the back corner of the garage. I'm talking pre disc brakes, Canti or V are welcome. Short travel suspension, skinny tires, terrible geometries.

(Update) This is not exclusive to Retro Bikes, just bring the oldest bike you have!!! Come and laugh at those of us on the Retro Bikes. Keep in mind, we will have bad gearing, bad brakes, etc, so the Retro folks will be slower than normal.

Aren’t all your bikes retro?

Even though Mathew was on his full travel bike today, we were wondering when he was going to move to something a bit more modern. Hey, good to see you out there! :D

At this point probably...

Woodie is 3 1/2 years old (probably the most modern)
Santa Cruz is about 5 years old (3 ring drivetrain)
Road bike is 18 years old
Bridgestone 26 years old
Mongoose BMW is from 78 (I think)
Banana seat Schwinn knockoff is probably late 70s too

Next new bike will probably be home built lugged Gravel bike

I dusted off a couple tonight, put air in the tires, and lubed the ancient chains. The aluminum ‘99 GF Paragon is a little too large for me (bought it for my son), but shifts and handles better than my ‘86 KHS Montana Pro. That one’s shifters require a pretty strong thumb.

Awww shucks. Disc brakes ruled me out..
Anyone interested in buying this semi retro? Fully restored and reconditioned everything. Fully functional and rideable. I have way too many bikes.

I've sold off all of my old beaters. So I'm disqualified from this one.

How about the next one, we all grab a Lime Bike and hit the trails? Winner is the one who breaks his first. :bang:

325racer, ideally it would be all retro bikes, but you may want to throw it open to just everyone’s oldest functional bike. Then there might be a better turnout with a few people willing to ride along and laugh at those of us on actual vintage bikes.

Okay, bumping this...you really need a good group of old bikes for an event like this. Without some other old bikes to look at and discuss it seems a little masochistic and pointless (although some might say that applies to biking in general). Riding my new (relatively) bike is both safer and more fun. What about it Dirt Treaders?

I don't see a start time. At my retro-age I am severely attention-challenged, though.

You're right, I neglected to list start time, I've updated, 8:30am, which is our fairly typical DT start time.
