Congrats to all you guys/gals!

My stamina started to fail at 3:10 just from watching your video. I look forward to hearing the gritty details soon.

Nice video - it was cool to see the route from that perspective.

I created the .kml file from a GPS app on my phone, then loaded it into Google Earth Pro to make the video, then used Adobe Premiere to adjust the speed of the video and add the title slide and soundtrack.

9 hours of riding condensed into one Benny Hill soundtrack!

I watched this with great amusement. Benny Hill was perfect.

However, you cut the switch backs at Elfin and Crosby, cheater. Ride doesn't count. Go back to start and do it again.

Also noticed you spent a L O N G time at Rich's aid station (Margaritaville). I hope it wasn't because the the blond in the grass skirt!

Again, nice job on the video.

Thanks! We actually didn't cut any of the switchbacks. The GPS only grabs the signal every so-often, so it cuts off corners/switchbacks. This is especially problematic for very sharp corners and at high speeds and is why GPS tracks tend to underestimate total mileage. So in fact we were going super fast on those switchbacks. I'm sure you believe me, right???

Rich had convinced us that the police had forced them out of the final aid station and that Margaritaville was the last aid station and that we "were completely f**ked". He also gave us a small "antioxidant" drink which he claimed had no alcohol (while standing next to two empty handles of tequila) but definitely had a little something funny in it.

Oh, and speaking of doing it again, apparently some crazies couldn't find a carpool so when they got to the finish line they rode the course back to the start. Maniacs!

Cheers,
Mike

I know the carpool joy. Took a solo rider back up to Carlsbad but he had to suffer a few side trips on the way.

There was a psycho lady in Carlsbad right at the start that called the cops. She felt we can't use the park. Not really an issue except the ranger asked we remove the porta-potty. It had to be removed or it might have been towed or vandalized, complements of the said psycho.

DOH!!

When I got down the the end with the remnants of the NOT CLOSED aid station 3 (fucking drunk ass, commando grass skirted, blond chick, liar Rich) I got saddled with the trailered toilet that stank to high hell. "Just keep it at you house"

"DOH, DOH"

Oh hell no! Stored it at Black Mountain park. Some assholes cut the sealed door to trash the interior.

"DOH, DOH, DOH!!!

Fortunately, they were just entertained with the toiled paper. It was an easy clean up but not what I wanted to do. Just got rid of it this AM.

Its all good. I am glad we pulled this off again this year. Gotta say Green Flash is a great way to end it. I think that beer was like water for Rich by the end of the day.

Oh, and I knew it was the GPS. Just flinging poo for fun since I had a trailer full of it.

That is a horrifying tale of port-a-potty shenanigans. They seriously don't pay you enough.

But think of the joy your efforts bring to so many, including the children!

He had a frame pack for tools/tubes and two feed bags on the handlebar each holding a water bottle. With the aid stations there is no need to carry a ton of water.
